I am in the process of purchasing an inexpensive used vehicle, and have been browsing the lots along Riverside Avenue in Roseville. Most of the car lots sell their vehicles as-is. I know next to nothing about vehicles, and my husband, though he works on his car, is far from a master mechanic, so I have been very concerned about getting gypped and winding up with a clunker. I was referred to this place from my local mechanic in Lodi, as it's too far of a drive for the used car lots to allow me me to take a car for evaluation.Let me say right now that I am very impressed and happy with my experience today at BMR Auto Care. They were able to take the car right away, without an appointment. I was given a list ahead of time that went over what they checked as a standard evaluation (which cost me just under $75), and asked if there was anything specific we were concerned about, which was noted on the form. They drove the car around back to their gigantic garage, and I sat and waited. Their facility is clean and bright, and the service area in back had all kinds of cars being worked on, from everyday vehicles to classic cars, and all in between.While waiting, I also overheard how other customers - both over the phone and in person - were treated, and was reassured. These are car people, not salesmen... and they enjoy what they do. They did not seem stressed or rushed in any way; they were pleasant without the fake, overly-cheery attitude that salespeople have.When the examination was complete, the clerk behind the counter came out and sat down with me to go over the results of the test. She made sure I understood everything they found good and bad, without making me feel like I was stupid about automotive stuff, and advised me what the mechanic's opinion was, and her opinion, in an encouraging, "this can give you leverage to lower the price down" way. I was given a verbal, ballpark-figure estimate of what it might cost to do the repairs at their shop, as well. She asked my husband and I if we had any other questions, then we went over and paid for the test.I left feeling confident that I had the information I needed to make the correct decision on this vehicle, which we are placing a lower offer on. The dealer is wanting to have his mechanic evaluate it to see if they can offer a better price on the repairs, so we shall see.But for an out-of-towner who wants a car evaluated thoroughly by people who aren't just out to get your money - BMR Auto Care is the place to go.
