Holmes and the NAPA Toyota Sixth at Miller

Antelope, CA – Bill McAnally Racing’s Eric Holmes extends his lead to 141 points in the chase for the 2010 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship after finishing in sixth at the Toyota/NAPA AUTO PARTS Bonus Challenge race #5. The event was a featured race in the ‘Showdown in the Desert’ at Miller Motorsports Park on September 12th.

The No 20 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry was in the top-ten during the only pre-race practice held at MMP. Veteran driver Holmes qualified in eighth during the road-race style qualifying session.

One lap into the 36-lap race, Holmes had moved into sixth. Crew chief Matt Goslant made the call to stay out during the caution at lap 5. While under green, Holmes brought the No. 20 to pit road at lap 17. The team packed the NAPA Toyota Camry with two cans of fuel and Holmes return maintaining his position. At lap 28, the No. 71 of Daryl Harr got into Holmes as his car ‘wheel hopped’ thru a corner called the ‘Knock Out’ or turn 6. Holmes got back on track but had dropped to 15th. At lap 30, The No. 20 NAPA entry from BMR was once again in the top-ten. Holmes finished the 36-lap race in sixth.

The Toyota/NAPA Auto Parts Bonus Challenge ’150′ race will be televised on SPEED Channel on Thursday, September 16th at 3 pm PST.

The final race will be a companion race with three top-tiered NASCAR Series at Phoenix International Raceway November 13th. It will be a featured race in the ‘Kobalt Tools 500 Weekend’. More than 150,000 people are expected to flock to Phoenix this November so get your tickets early.
