Iowa Speedway Race Recap
Roseville, CA– Cameron Hayley, driver of the No. 24 Cabinets by Hayley Toyota Camry had a great night, bringing home a second place finish in the West Series as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West came together for a second time this season in a combination race. The Pork Be Inspired “150″ was held at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa.
The No. 24 Cabinets by Hayley Toyota team faced very hot and humid conditions at Iowa Speedway with temperature souring above 95 degrees. Hayley was tenth during the first practice. He would later qualify on the inside of row eight.
Hayley was patient holding on to his position thru the first 75 laps. At the mandatory halfway break, the Cabinets by Hayley team with veteran crew chief Mario Isola went to work giving the No. 24 Toyota Camry four fresh tires and fuel. At lap 96 of 150, Hayley radioed in that the car was a ‘little tight but as things went on, it was loosening up a bit’. At lap 126, ‘the big one’ happened. Hayley avoided the multi-car crash coming out of turn two and moved up into the top-ten on the board. As the field pushed thru the final laps, Hayley would finish in twelfth overall but second of the West Series cars. (The East and West Series team’s points are awarded separately by series.)
“Two weeks in a row my team has given me a great No. 24 Cabinets by Hayley Toyota Camry!” said Hayley. “It was hot and very humid out making it a long day for everyone on the team. They kept pushing throughout the entire day and gave me a great piece at the end of the day.”
“I learned a ton about aerodynamics and how to make the car either better or worse by using other cars on the track. Coming from one lap down early was a tough battle through the entire race but to gain that lap back and finish in 2nd of the West Series and 12th overall… it was a great day! This is the second good week in a row and we will look for another in a couple weeks in Portland.”
Next up for the No. 24 Cabinets by Hayley/NAPA Batteries Toyota team is Portland International Raceway. This is the team from Bill McAnally Racing’s fourth road course of the season. The Portland “125″ will be on August 26th.
The “Pork Be Inspired” race can be seen on Thursday August 16th on SPEED Channel. Check your local listings for times in your area.

Roseville, CA– Eric Holmes, driver of the No. 20 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry brought home a third place finish in the West Series as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West came together for a second time this season in a combination race. The Pork Be Inspired “150″ was held at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa.
Holmes and the NAPA team worked on the race set up during both practice session. He would later qualify on the inside of row thirteen.
Holmes took the green for the 150-lap race mid-pack. At lap 50, he radioed in to his crew chief, Ty Joiner that the NAPA Toyota was tight on entry to the center of the corner. He also reported in that his right leg was cramping and it was hard for him to get on the throttle. There was a mandatory pit stop at lap 75 at which time the team went to work putting on four fresh Goodyear tires and adding fuel. Holmes would take the checked flag in eighteenth overall but third place of the West Series cars. (The East and West Series team’s points are awarded separately by series.)
“Man… I couldn’t believe that my right leg cramped like it did,” said Holmes. High humidity and temperatures that soared above 95 degrees at Iowa Speedway were a contributing factor. “We’re taking the NAPA Toyota home in one piece and that’s always a good thing. We wanted to make a run for the front but overall it was a good points night for us.”
“We are looking forward to going to Portland International Raceway in a few weeks. We’ve always run well there and have great support from our race partner, NAPA AUTO PARTS. They come out from all over the Portland and Vancouver, Washington area to be a part of our team. The NAPA team is looking forward giving them a good race.”
